Integration
STARFACE in IDA: directory, call list and time from the call
IDA writes your contacts into the STARFACE address book so the display says who is calling - and takes in calls that turn into tickets and time entries. For STARFACE 9 and 10, whether appliance, VM or cloud.
BetaThis integration is built and usable, but has not yet run against a production third-party system - it was written against the vendor’s public interface documentation. Expect some follow-up work on first connection. We would rather say so up front than let you find out.
What IDA reads from STARFACE
- Users and extensions of the phone system
- Address books of the system as a target for the contact export
- Call data through the reporting path on the phone system
What IDA does with it
- Contacts from IDA sit in the address book of the phone system - the name appears on the display without anyone maintaining it twice
- Calls land in the call list and can be turned into a ticket or a time entry
- Call time feeds the same reports as any other recorded time
Who it is for
Service desks on STARFACE that want telephony and tickets in the same system.
Setup: Store the credentials and choose the address book IDA may write to. For the call list and call time there is one more piece: IDA defines the reporting format, and a module or script on the STARFACE calls it.
Every integration in IDA has its own switch. Turn it off and it disappears completely - including the columns, filters and reports that belong to it. You only see what you actually use.
Vendor website: STARFACE. STARFACE is a trademark of its respective owner; IDA connects to the system technically, which implies no partnership.

Questions about the STARFACE integration
Why does it need an extra reporting path on the phone system?
Because the STARFACE interface does not give out call data by itself: there is neither a call list to fetch nor an event callback. Address book, users and extensions work without any addition; for the call list and call time a module or script on the system reports to IDA.
Why not CSTA?
The system supports it, but it requires a permanent connection with reconnection handling - another process running all the time whose failure nobody notices. The same reason the permanent socket was ruled out for Yeastar.
Can I dial from IDA?
Yes, through the click-to-call link on the contact. STARFACE has no endpoint through which IDA could instruct the system to place a call.
