Veeam in IDA: backup state per customer, without opening the console
A failed backup is noticed when somebody opens the console. IDA fetches the state from the Veeam Service Provider Console and attaches it to the device at the customer - where the tickets are.
BetaThis integration is built and usable, but has not yet run against a production third-party system - it was written against the vendor’s public interface documentation. Expect some follow-up work on first connection. We would rather say so up front than let you find out.
What IDA reads from Veeam Service Provider Console
- Protected machines per customer (each Veeam agent is a device)
- Result of the last run (success, warning, error)
- Time of the last successful backup
- Agent version
What IDA does with it
- Backup state sits on the device - at the ticket, not in a second interface
- A machine whose last successful backup was weeks ago is visible before the customer asks
- Customers without any backup at all stand out in the overview
Who it is for
Providers looking after Veeam agents through the Service Provider Console who would rather not walk the list every morning.
Setup: Store the console address and credentials; customer assignment follows the "Company" in the console.
Every integration in IDA has its own switch. Turn it off and it disappears completely - including the columns, filters and reports that belong to it. You only see what you actually use.
