In practice

In practice

A supplier invoice arrives in document management. The posting assistant shows it, proposes an account and tax key and adds the posting to the batch. At month end a DATEV export goes to the tax practice - including the payments and cash discounts that came from the bank statement.

Frequently asked questions

Does IDA replace our tax adviser?

No. IDA captures and prepares; posting and review happen at the practice. The DATEV export is the handover - it replaces the retyping, not the professional review.

Is this audit-proof under German GoBD rules?

IDA does not provide audit-proof archiving; that remains the responsibility of the business. Exporting the tax-relevant documents into a suitable archive is supported and connected.

Are EU invoices without VAT handled correctly?

Yes. The tax treatment on the debtor distinguishes domestic from EU B2B with reverse charge; the matching tax key lands on the document and in the DATEV batch.

Can we correct a faulty batch?

Yes, as long as it has not been handed over - then it can be reset and rebuilt. After handover you correct rather than delete, as bookkeeping requires.
